Engineering Design is a four-year sequence of courses that train students in human-centered design processes and engineering methods. These courses help students develop powerful professional skills and insights that will serve them well in a number of career pathways. The freshmen design course acclimates students to the design process and reinforces math and science skills needed for advanced topics and projects. In the sophomore course students take on more independent design projects and also gain experience in formal engineering project management practices. The junior course is a social action lab that requires students to combine the research methods and models of engineering and anthropology to address  social justice issues. Senior students take a practicum course that allows them to work on a real engineering problem from a local firm.
