Nazareth Prep Student Helps To Fight Racism At YWCA

Thursday, April 26, 2018

As an intern with the YWCA, Nazareth Prep senior Shauna is using her talents to build awareness about social injustice.

Shauna has been essential to CRGE in assisting with analyzing and evaluating the success of our diversity workshops. The workshops are a method of reaching the public to convince them to champion diversity.

Shauna is also helping to build the foundation of a new diversity training and PowerPoint on Multigenerational Communication. Employers report that having multiple ages of generations in the same workplace sometimes results in communication differences and challenges. Shauna is compiling research and creating a PowerPoint presentation that presents current age demographics, shares communication trends and preferences among members of a generation (Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, etc), and makes overall suggestions for best communication practices.

"Shauna's foundational research is a huge asset in assisting us with meeting the diversity needs of the community, and helping YWCA to promote our educational programs" said intern supervisor Mell Steven-Cosnek.
