April 5, 2018
I am writing to share that our Trustees and the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth have approved a plan to rename Nazareth Prep, effective this spring. We will begin using the name Nazareth Prep in April, but I wanted you to know now and—more importantly, why—we are taking this step.
Please know that the decision came after much feedback and reflection. As proud as we are of our history, our reputation, and the continuing good work of Holy Family Institute, our affiliated organization, we are keenly aware of how often staff, students and their families must explain that the Academy is different. We also know that many prospective families may not consider enrolling their student because they simply assume—due to Holy Family’s history of working with ‘troubled kids’—that Nazareth Prep is not for them. The attached press release was sent out today to let the media know about our new name, Nazareth Prep .
As the name implies, the mission remains the same. We are preparing students to learn well, pray well, work well, and live well, whether the student chooses college, technical training or direct to career as their pathway. Our focus on academically-qualified students of all faiths that can’t traditionally afford private school remains unchanged.
Please let me know if you have any questions about our decision.
All the Best,
Dr. Lisa Abel-Palmieri, PhD
