Hours: 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday, flexibility on some evenings due to events.

General Statement of Duties:
Plans and provides appropriate classroom learning experiences for students. Creates an atmosphere that fosters intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development to ensure success for every student. Responsible for supervising students in various school-related settings; monitoring and evaluating student outcomes; and communicating with students, parents, staff, and the community. Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Additionally, responsible for maintaining accurate records, following required procedures and practices, and monitoring the proper use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
Responsibilities:
Extensive knowledge of curriculum and techniques for integrating curriculum, policies, and effective instructional practices in the classroom.
A deep understanding of African American Studies, including historical and cultural perspectives, is crucial.
Utilize AP College Board frameworks and unit planning to ensure students are well-prepared for the exam.
Create a classroom environment that fosters inquiry, debate, and critical thinking.
Considerable expertise in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Apps.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Strategic problem-solving skills, including the use of multiple data points.
Prepare course objectives and outlines for the course of study following the state and school curriculum guidelines or requirements.
Provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
Infuse technology into the curriculum.
Ability to motivate and inspire students.
Maintain a clean and orderly environment.
Maintain order and discipline in a classroom and in other school environments.
Ability to maintain files and records.
Work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, parents, and the community.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to communicate well with school personnel, employees, and central office staff.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, external agencies, vendors, and the community.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Social Studies (History, Geography), English, Humanities, or Education. Master’s Degree Preferred.
PA teaching certification preferred.
Familiarity with the AP curriculum in Human Geography, World History, and US History (preferred).
Strong understanding of analytical and critical thinking methodologies.
Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate high school students with diverse learning styles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Passion for fostering a love of learning and intellectual curiosity.

Ability to model tenacity and resilience in living our learning mission.
Must provide Act 33/34 and FBI clearances and a valid PA driver’s license
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Pay Range: $47,000-60,000 per year
